WOW. Friday night at Beaches Mornington , a new venue for us was a bloody hoot! It's gotta be one of the best live music venues on the Peninsula, with a super fun crowd to boot. A late arvo load in and quick soundcheck literally had the stage set for take off. Kick off was at 9:30, and after some great tucker and a beer of course, we hit the stage with a few acoustic numbers to warm up the vocals and test the crowd : crowd tested and confirmed : ready for take off!!! Marty slipped behind the kit to join the engine room proper, with Les on his thundering bass, while Rob was left to solo his way through 2 guitars, being left to rely on his backup-backup guitar after busting two sets of strings! The way Rob is busting strings at the moment, it might be time to invest in a backup-backup-backup guitar! A Bowie request granted, a breakdown to end all breakdowns and a vocal tribute to Malcolm Young through High Voltage was loved by all. Some great feedback from the punters, none more so than a regular couple who through they'd pop down for "one drink" to check out the new band ... they stayed for all three sets!
